The “World Environment Day” is celebrated every year on June 5 to spread awareness regarding the protection and nurturing of the environment to make Earth a better place to live.
Like every year, we students of Tapovan school organized various programs during the entire week starting June 5 to 10 to enable most of the students to participate.
The nursery, pre-primary and primary children showcased their drawings on various environmental issues and possible solutions. They also danced and performed a skit.
Deepak of Grade 6, Kavya and Vaidehi of Grade 5, Umme Habiba of Grade 8 and Milana of Grade 9 gave speeches related to the environmental issues like the need to grow more trees, using cycle, car pooling and public transport to save on natural resources and also reduce pollution, saving water, soil, etc.
There were group song and group dance depicting nature by girls and boys of Grade 4, 5 and 8. Prajwal of Grade 5 sang a beautiful song on reducing the use of plastics.
On Thursday, the students of 8th, 9th and 10th organised a rally in the neighborhood to create awareness about the need to save soil and the need and ways to keep the surroundings clean. About 50 of us, along with the teachers, participated in the rally. We were able to talk to the people and spread the message.
On the last day Atharv of Grade 1 and Vedant of Grade 2 spoke about the Environment Day. UKG students sung a wonderful song for us. Sukruth of UKG and Devashree of LKG recited slokas .
A lot of enthusiasm was seen in the students . The students planted saplings throughout the week, in and around the campus.
We students also took oath that none of us will pollute the environment and will not allow others to do so.
During the week, we had organised a session on “growing food organically at home” by Ms. Yogita Mehra from Green Essentials, Goa. It is an excellent way to grow your own vegetables and fruits organically in your own terrace or balcony.
